Despite the title, and unlike the previous two albums, the album does not focus on a specific theme. The album name is in reference to the featured staircase on the cover art, which is found outside an apartment that NeonWabbit lived in for over 2 decades before moving to a different place, and the title also spawned the idea for the titular tracks, "Farewell", a song about "goodbyes", and "Stairwell", a song about the "ups and downs" of life.
