The Studio RGB-Newt Companion App was a barebones application developed by Studio RGB-Newt for Android mobile devices, dedicated to listening to previews of Neon and the Argie Bees music from the iTunes Store, along with links to Studio RGB-Newt social media profiles, and a FAQ answering questions on what Studio RGB-Newt / The Fishal Project is.
It was created in two days after NeonWabbit was warned of inactive developer account termination for not releasing anything in the years since his account creation, and officially released on January 20, 2024.
A 1.1 hotfix update released a few days later removed QR code scanning functionality, renamed "Music" to "Music Previews", and added the Studio RGB-Newt / The Fishal Project Privacy Policy.
Changelog
1.0 (January 30, 2024)
- initial release
1.1 (February 4, 2024)
- temporarily disabled QR code scan feature due to a bug redirecting users to an account creation page (user accounts are currently not supported by the app)
- added the latest privacy policy
- renamed "music" to "music previews" as full tracks are not included
1.3 / 35.2 - "The Modernization Update" (July 11, 2024)
- updated most libraries to latest versions, including:
- Android SDK now targeting API Level 35
- Google Play Billing Library now on Version 7
There is a bug with this version that just has the app display a black or grey screen on most devices.
The app was originally to be recreated from scratch in Godot Engine to fix this and make it easier to add new features for its next update, however, later it was decided to sunset the app entirely.
